Welcome to The Gustavian Weekly staff guide! These pages are meant to serve as a reference for the Weekly staff.
Production Timeline
Tuesday – Wednesday: The editorial staff assigns articles.
Sunday, 8p.m.: Articles due. Stories should be sent via e-mail to editors in the format described below. They are returned with corrections, questions and suggestions.
Monday: Writers meet with editors as needed and make changes.
Tuesday morning: Second drafts are due to editors.
Tuesday afternoon: Editors make final edits.
Tuesday, 6 p.m.: Editors send articles to copy editors.
Wednesday: The Weekly editorial staff meets in the Weekly office to design the paper.
Thursday: The newspaper is printed (Northfield, Minnesota).
Friday morning: The Weekly is placed on newsstands around campus and online!

- Story submission format – stories should be Emailed to editors in this format:
- Microsoft Word “.doc” file format (not “.docx”, please.)
- Single-spaced
- No tabs
- One space between each sentence
- Times New Roman, 12 pt font
- Headline idea and writer’s name in the top right comer
