Gustie of the Week: Rachel Belvedere

This week’s Gustie of the Week is an involved student on campus, a friendly face and ambitious senior Rachel Belvedere. The perks of shopping on Cyber Monday

It may seem as if we are just skipping over Thanksgiving this year due to Starbucks across the nation already decking the halls and Christmas trees starting to go up, but there is one occasion that no one will skip over–the shopping frenzies we all know as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Getting to the heart of polite speech

Imposter syndrome has been a recent hot topic on campus, which refers to the internalized fear that one will be exposed as a fraud. What kinds of things perpetuate it, does it truly affect us? This dialogue has gotten me thinking about a common interaction that each of us goes through a multitude of times on any … Continue reading Getting to the heart of polite speech

Debating the importance of debate

We’ve all had that boring, two hour long lecture class where you sit and stare at the clock, only half-comprehending the words coming out of the professor’s mouth. Don’t get me wrong, lectures have a role in getting information out in the open, but they certainly leave something to be desired when it comes to student engagement in the classroom. So how do we change … Continue reading Debating the importance of debate

Women’s basketball off to a strong start: Gusties win first two games 84-53 and 94-26

Each of the past two seasons for the Gustavus Women’s basketball team have revolved around a pair of studly seniors, with two All-Conference players graduating each year. This year there are no seniors on the roster, but this apparent dearth of upperclassmen leadership isn’t a concern for Head Coach Laurie Kelly. “For us, we have a good veteran group back with a large group of … Continue reading Women’s basketball off to a strong start: Gusties win first two games 84-53 and 94-26
