Women’s coach of the year: Scott Moe

Coming off a second place finish at last year’s NCAA Golf Championships, the Gustavus Women’s Golf team understandably had a target on its back throughout this entire season. Despite the high expectations for the program that he has helped bring to national prominence, Head Coach Scott Moe has guided his team to an even better finish this season.

The former MIAC champion golfer has now coached the women’s team for the past seven years, a span during which the Gusties have finished in the top three nationally four times and currently have their sights set on another as the NCAA Championships wrap up today in Florida. His leadership has paid dividends for the team in the form of three consecutive tournament wins to close out this spring’s regular season.

Moe is coming off a season in which he captured the Women’s National Golf Coaches Association National Coach of the Year award, but his coaching of this year’s squad has been every bit as impressive. While Moe had great individual golfers over the years, few—if any—of the teams have gelled as well as this one. The result has been one of the more impressive team performances by a Gustavus varsity team in recent memory.
