This weekend the Campus Activities Board (CAB) will be branching out from its usual run of films that are just out of theaters. Instead, the CAB Films Committee will be holding a Disney movie marathon on January 14 and 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall.
“The CAB Films Committee thought a movie marathon of any type would be a fun idea, and therefore it went about seeing what kind of marathon the campus would enjoy,” Sophomore Psychology Major and CAB Films Executive Ben Miller said. “The movies we are showing this weekend are classic, animated Disney movies.”
A poll from last January Interim Experience showed that the campus wanted to see a marathon of Disney movies, out of other choices such as an ‘80s or Star Wars movie marathon. The decision to do a movie marathon this came with a lot of responsibility and hard work. The CAB Films Committee had previously been unable to hold a movie marathon due to budget restrictions, but careful planning since last January has enabled it to hold the movie marathon this year.
The two movies to be shown will be Mulan and Tarzan. “I think it’s really cool that they’re doing a Disney marathon. Disney movies are always fun,” Sophomore Communications Studies Major Brie Cardwell said. Mulan will be shown first and Tarzan will be shown immediately afterward.
Students are welcome to bring blankets, pillows, food and drinks. The CAB Films Committee was going for this comfortable atmosphere. “I want Gusties to be able to enjoy a piece of their childhood that they don’t get to enjoy very often these days,” Miller said.
