Her Campus presents “12 Days of Giveaways”: Various appealing prizes to be given in light of Christmas season

Her Campus is a website that publishes articles written by women on college campuses across the country. This publication is based out of Boston, Massachusetts. It features articles written by over 350 colleges and from thousands of women.

The goal of this website is to empower women through the form of writing.

Gustavus began its own chapter right here on campus.

“The founders of our chapter at Gustavus are Katie Allen and Shailagh Lannon, two amazing seniors. They started Her Campus here at [Gustavus] in the spring of 2016, so we’re still a relatively new organization,” Sophomore Linsey Wolf said.

This month, Her Campus is encouraging readers to participate in a “12 Days of Giveaways” event. Each day, Her Campus is posting a photo of the gifts on Instagram in each giveaway as well as rules on how to win.

Some rules include liking the post, sharing it, or tagging friends in the comments.

Prizes this year include apparel, finals week stress relief packages, and even make up from high-end brands like Tarte.

“Some prizes include Tarte makeup, Bedhead hair products, Aeropostle accessories, and other items from Her Campus sponsors,” Senior Shailagh Lannon said.

This isn’t the first event that Her Campus has hosted.

Back in October, the young organization held a “Holloween in the DIVE” event that drew in a significant-sized crowd. “

Recently, we hosted a Holloween DIVE that was a huge hit,” Wolf said.

This group also hopes to host more events for students on campus in order to bring awareness and interest in the growing group. “We’re hoping to host more campus and community events in the spring, such as a writing showcase at The Coffee Hag in Mankato, and a Gusties After Dark event,” Senior Kjersten Piper said.

Her Campus is hoping to connect to students and to help create a lighter environment during this time before the Holidays and winter break.

“Our “12 Days of Giveaways” is simply meant to provide some joy to the Gustavus community during this stressful time, while also spreading the word about Her Campus,” Lannon said.
