What is a personal goal that you set and achieved?
“I think I would say just becoming self-confident because I was such an introvert as a child. So just becoming me and gaining self-confidence and being aware of who I am and figuring that out across time. I just started out as an embarrassed little kid and really awkward, as most people do. But as I’ve gone through my journey in life, I’ve found out more about who I am and that was a really big goal for me: figuring out what my purpose is in life and who I want to be as well as who I want to present myself as, so that was my main goal. Just figuring out myself!”
Is there a personal goal that you set for college that you have achieved or are currently working towards?
“Well, figuring out my track for my education, because when I came in to college I had no idea what I wanted to do. I basically goofed around my first year trying to figure it out, and then one day it just hit me and so I figured that out, which was my main goal when I came to college so now I’m going along with that. I’ve had a few great opportunities this year and I’m still kind of figuring things out. When people ask ‘What are you going to do after you graduate?’ I’m still not sure how to answer that. So I’m just taking things as they come. I’d say I’ve achieved most things that I wanted to when I came to school. I want to say getting my voice out there was a big one, being heard. That goes back to me being an introvert and growing out of that and having people know who I am now.”
What kind of advice would you give to someone who has set a personal goal?
“My main thing is to write it down and hang it somewhere where you’ll see it every day. I have a little corkboard above my desk and that’s where I get ready for the day. I always hang little things there, like life quotes or Bible verses, and that’s something you’ll see every day. And when you see it, you’ll remind yourself ‘This is what I’m striving for, this is what I want to accomplish.’ That’s my main way to focus on it.”
