Senior Spotlight: Kalyn Botzet

This recurring segment will highlight a senior Gustavus athlete each week.

Q: What are your expectations for the upcoming season?

A: Our team is stronger than we have been in a long time.  Since my freshman year, our team goal has been to score a 180.  While we haven’t scored that in my years at Gustavus, I’m hoping we can reach our goal this year.

Q: What is your best athletic memory?

A: My favorite memory from the Gustavus gymnastics team is winning our meet against Hamline in 2013.  We hadn’t won a meet in three years and had dealt with a ton of coaching issues the previous year, so it was exciting to finally see all of our hard work come together. That win really brought our spirits up and brought us much closer as a team.

Q: Why would you recommend Gustavus?

A: I would recommend Gustavus for its supportive community. Gustavus is like a tightly-knit family.  All of the faculty, administrators, and students truly want to help you succeed in all aspects of your life.  Coaches help you succeed academically, and professors support you in your extracurriculars.  It is fun to see both professors and student body painters in the stands cheering you on at meets.
