The world shouldn’t be a boys club

The average woman can expect to lose out on nearly $500,000 in the time of her career.

“According to new study of Census Bureau data from the National Women’s Law Center, the average woman will make $430,480 less than her male counterpart over the course of 40 years of work. For African American women, that gap grows to $877,480, while for Latinas, it adds up to over $1 million”.

This past Tuesday, April 10 2018 marked Equal Pay Day for the year of 2018.

This date is significant because it symbolizes how far into the year women need to work in order to earn what most men earn the previous year.

This is something that is completely unacceptable, especially in this day and age.

Women in the United States today are still not receiving equal pay for the same job that men are doing.

These women are putting in just as much, if not more work.

The least we can do is give them the pay that they have earned and so clearly deserve.

It is our job as young American citizens to affect and enforce change and equality for all.

If we are not doing this we need to evaluate what is important to us, and figure out what we can do to change this.

Women represent half of the total workforce today, but only make about seventy eight cents for every dollar that a man makes (this being for white women. The percentage is even lower for Black and Hispanic women.)

That may not seem like a lot, but in the scheme of things it can be a huge salary difference.

Think of your future daughters, nieces, granddaughters and the future generation in general.

Don’t you want them to have everything they deserve in more?

There are many different things you can do to change and improve this serious issue.

You can do something as simple as go out and vote when it is election time.

Vote for representatives who care about women’s rights and are actually doing something to make a change in our society for women.

You can also donate to organizations that support women like the National Women’s Organization and find your local protest in your area and join them.

You can also educate others on this problem that is occuring today, which many people are not aware of.

It is time for us to speak up. And by us I mean everyone, no matter who you are or what you do, gender inequality impacts you whether you know it or not.

We need to come together, and be change in order to truly make difference.

This means more than just talking about the problem, although that is a great start it is time to start changing our lives for the better.

Women in the United States today are still not receiving equal pay for the same job that men are doing.

Although, things might get worse before they get better, at least change is happening.

Donate your time, money if you can, and anything you have to organizations that help better The Women’s Movement. Protest and stand up for what you believe in, if you don’t who will?

As young and active citizens, it is our job to leave this world better than we found it.

We need to make sure that any little girl has all of rights that she deserves, and more.

Women are making so many changes in the world today and not receiving the adequate recognition that they deserve.

We need to do everything we can to empower the young women of today, as well as encourage our young boys to treat girls and women with respect that they deserve.

It is so important to do everything we can to make this difference in our world, for everyone.

The most important thing you can do is what you can, with what you have.

So the next time you, your friend or any other female is interviewing for a job and competing with males for the same job.

Just think how much more the males may be being offered in salary for the exact same work.

This is 2018, and it is time for a change.

This type of action should have never been acceptable, but it definitely is not now.

So go out there, make a difference and do everything you can to make this world equal for everyone.
