Campus Safety Report (3/13/15)

Monday, March 2

● A Gustavus student reported the theft of a bicycle from outside College View. The bicycle was later recovered.

Tuesday, March 3

● Campus Safety responded to a report of damaged College property at Rundstrom Hall.

Wednesday, March 4

● Campus Safety responded to a medical assist at the Folke Bernadotte Library.

Thursday, March 5

● Campus Safety responded to a medical assist at Lund Center.

● Campus Safety responded to the Health Service office to take a report of an injury that occurred in the Schaefer Fine Arts Building.

● Campus Safety took a report of a student of concern in College View.

Friday, March 6

● A Gustavus student reported a theft that occurred at the Folke Bernadotte Library. The person’s property was later found.

Saturday, March 7

● A Collegiate Fellow documented bias related vandalism on a door in Sohre Hall.

● Campus Safety was called to Sorensen Hall for a trespass violation.

● Collegiate Fellows responded to a College policy violation in Sorensen Hall.  A cat was removed.

● Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm Uhler Hall.  A third floor pull station was triggered by an unknown person.

Sunday, March 8

● Campus safety was called to the Campus Safety office for a student of concern.

PREVENT BICYCLE THEFT

More and more people are biking as the weather is warming.  Bicycle theft reports are on the rise.  Be sure to take steps to secure your bicycle, and to make sure you have the information you need to report it stolen.  Report any stolen bicycles to Campus Safety, 507-933-8888.

Ways to protect your bicycle:

● Register your bicycle with Campus Safety!  It’s free, register online at gustavus.edu/safety/permits and you’ll receive a permit in campus mail, or stop by the Campus Safety office to register (be sure to bring your serial number).

● Record the serial number/model/make/color of your bike (type the number into your cell phone).

● Take photos of your bike.

● Etch your frame and parts with your personal ID, write your ID inside rim or on a card inside the frame.

● Invest in a quality bike lock or locks (unlock, 3/8” hex or quad chain, heavy padlock).

● Lock and secure your bike at all times when not in use.

● Do not leave your bike unattended or unlocked even if it’s “just of a minute”.
