Campus Safety Report (Sept 16th, 2011)

Monday, September 5

• A student reported a car key stolen from her room in Norelius Hall.  The key was subsequently found.

• A Campus Safety Officer responded to a medical assist at Lund Center.

 

Tuesday, September 6 

• A student reported the theft of his unsecured bicycle from Pittman hall.

 

Wednesday, September 7

• A faculty member reported lost keys to Campus Safety.

 

Thursday, September 8

• Campus Safety responded for a report of a theft from a motor vehicle in the Lund Parking Lot.

 

Friday, September 9

• A student in Norelius Hall was cited with possession of a false ID and underage-consumption by the St. Peter Police Department.

Bicycle Registration and Parking Regulations

• All students, faculty and staff who wish to park a bicycle on campus must register it with the College.

• There is no fee for registering a bicycle.

• You can register on the Campus Safety web page or in our office.  You will receive a free Gustavus Adolphus College Bicycle identification sticker that is to be placed on your bicycle.

• Bicycles parked on campus must be locked in a bicycle rack with a chain and padlock or other locking device.

• All non-registered or improperly parked bicycles will be confiscated by Campus Safety or Physical Plant personnel. If the bicycle is secured, the lock will be removed at owner expense.  Campus Safety will hold registered bicycles at a charge of $5/day.  Non-registered bicycles well be held at a charge of $10/day.   Any bicycle confiscated or turned in to the Campus Safety Office will remain there for a period of thirty days. After this period, any bicycle not claimed by the owner will be disposed of.

• Parking and storage of bicycles is only permitted in the student’s resident hall/room, employee office or any of the bicycle racks placed at various outside locations on campus.

• Indoor bike parking is never allowed in corridors, stairwells, exit pathways or outside on trees, metal poles or anywhere where it may impede emergency exit  or maintenance around or in a building.

• November through March, bike racks near Academic/Administrative buildings are no parking 2:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.  Bicycles parked overnight outside of these areas will have their locks cut and will be subject to storage fees.

• Mid-November to Mid-March (dates to be determined and announced according to weather), residential students can check-in bikes with campus personnel for storage under the stadium.

• Students should make arrangements to store bicycles in their room or at home, or check-in their registered bicycle at the stadium storage space on the date announced mid-November.  Any bicycles stored will not be accessible until the official check-out date, which will be announced mid-March. Gustavus Adolphus College assumes no responsibility for bicycles stored on college property.  All bicycles stored on campus must be registered and display a valid bicycle permit.
