Gwen Freed accepts new position, leaving Gustavus

The President’s Office announced last Wednesday that Vice President for Marketing and Communication Gwendolyn Freed will be leaving her position following Commencement, May 29. Freed has accepted a new position with Wallin Education Partners as their Executive Director.
Freed has served Gustavus as Vice President for Marketing and Communication since December 2006.

“In her time here, she led an unprecedented major market research and brand positioning effort that brought new life and focus to the messages and images that Gustavus projects to its audiences,” the President’s Office said in its email release.

As an important member of Marketing and Communication and as a member of the President’s Cabinet, Freed has contributed significantly to the recent branding project, worked as a legislative liaison and assisted the campus’s emergency communication system.

Wallin Education Partners in Minneapolis works to provide Minnesota students with the financial aid they need to graduate college. Gustavus is one of Wallin’s 27 partner colleges in Minnesota. Wallin places students in four-year universities throughout the Upper Midwest, as well as Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

A search committee to find a new Vice President for Marketing and Communication will convene soon.
