Tuesday, Jan. 11

  • Two Gustavus owned keys were reported lost.

Wednesday, Jan. 12

  • Three Gustavus students were cited for an unlawful keg in Arbor View.

Thursday, Jan. 13

  • A student while on Chapel Drive was cited for underage consumption of alcohol.
  • A student reported a laptop computer stolen from his unlocked room in North Hall on Sunday, Jan. 9. The laptop has been recovered.
  • Campus Safety responded to a medical assist at Lund Center.

Friday, Jan. 14

  • Eight students and one non-student were cited for underage consumption in Sorensen Hall.

Saturday, Jan. 15

  • A Gustavus student was cited for liquor violation/underage consumption and transported to Detox by the SPPD.
  • Seven students in North Hall were cited for underage consumption.
  • A student in Norelius Hall was cited for underage consumption.

Sunday, Jan. 16

  • A student was cited by Campus Safety for an of age alcohol violation, public drunkenness and for failure to comply with a college official.

Prize Sweepstakes and Lottery Schemes

The St. Peter Police Department continues to receive reports of letters and e-mails being distributed pursuant to prize sweepstakes or lottery schemes. These schemes use counterfeit checks that bear legitimate-looking logos of various financial institutions to fool victims into sending money to the fraudsters.

Victims may receive a fake check to be used as the advance on the taxes necessary to claim the supposed prize. If the victim deposits this check, they may receive funds from their bank before the check clears. When the fraud is realized, the victim will be responsible for the loss of the money they send to the fraudsters and their bank will cancel the advance check.

To avoid being scammed, consider the following: a federal statute prohibits mailing lottery tickets, advertisements or payments to purchase tickets in a foreign lottery. Be leery if you do not remember entering a lottery or sweepstakes. Beware of lotteries or sweepstakes that charge a fee prior to delivering your prize.
