Volleyball goes one in three against tough rivals

Volleyball’s eight-match win streak was snapped by Augsburg on Wednesday, Sept. 28, when the Auggies beat the Gusties 3 sets to 1. The loss also broke a 16-match win streak within the MIAC that dated back to 2014. “Augsburg played relentlessly. Very strong defense and attacked our block a lot…I felt like we couldn’t totally get into a groove and hold our momentum when we … Continue reading Volleyball goes one in three against tough rivals

Over the past number of weeks, Gustavus Men’s and Women’s Tennis have both been hard at work during their fall season. This rather brief fall season only lasted about one month. Each team, however, is very pleased with how their short seasons went. On the Men’s side of the court, the Gusties had two competitions this fall. Football comes up short in shootout

The Gustavus Football team took their first loss of the 2016 season last weekend when they lost a nail-biter to the Hamline Pipers in St. Paul. The Gustie offense had a chance after a forced safety brought them within two points of the Pipers with 35 seconds to go in the game, but they weren’t able to overcome the deficit.  The final score was 42-40 … Continue reading Football comes up short in shootout

‘Make your life count’ shouldn’t be a cliché

Far too often adults question me about my passions, and current intentions of pursuing them in college. We’ve all been there. As a college student I feel pressured to not only know how I dream of spending the rest of my life, but also articulate my intentions of how to achieve my success. But, the phrase “pursuing your true passions” has begun to sound like … Continue reading ‘Make your life count’ shouldn’t be a cliché

The last election you’ll ever vote in

Fifteen minutes ago, I applied for my absentee ballet. The process was simple, short, and only required the state government’s website and some basic information. In November, I cast my vote not only for the next president but also for the decision makers of both my state and my hometown. I am excited to vote in this election, not only because voting is important, but … Continue reading The last election you’ll ever vote in

Gustavus needs to stand up for social justice

I argue that we as a College that advocates for community, justice, service, and faith, a college that holds programs like I Am, We Are (IAWA) that advocate for social justice, and a college that became the first fair trade school in Minnesota, release a statement on an issue that the school will face or has faced. If the school released a statement on a … Continue reading Gustavus needs to stand up for social justice
